Picking out the accessories for my ceremony and the supplies for my reception wasn’t half as hard as trying to choose something nice for my bridesmaids. I think the guest book is important, not only to have everyones’ name that attended, but for later use when you are filling out thank you notes. There was a real funny one called ‘Take It Off ‘ where everyone puts a paper bag over their heads and then the hostess tells everyone to remove one article, and you’d be surprised how many ladies don’t think to remove the bag. The things I purchased were well made, and I spent a lot whole less than I thought I would have to, and had a whole lot more choices. She’ll have a lot of options when she uses this site, and it will save her a pretty penny, which all newlyweds need. The bridal shower wouldn’t have been as good without it. I went to a wedding last week where they had mikasa crystal accessories on all of the reception tables. On every table were lovely mikasa weddings and mikasa crystal glasses. What excellent taste the bride has in decorating a wedding and reception tables. With all the mikasa accessories she had on the tables, it was a picture of elegance.

I had to find out where she ordered her wedding accessories from, the cake topper would be great for my mom and dads’ renewal wedding for their anniversary.
The garter toss was really a riot, I laughed so hard. Watching the looks on the guys faces as the groom removed the garter from the brides leg, was priceless. Then watching them fall all over each other, trying to be the lucky guy to catch it. What was really funny was that the winner of the garter toss was talked into participating by the other guys and he was a widower in his 70’s. There was a big smile on the old mans face as he walked off with the garter in his hand.
To toast the bride and groom we were given champagne flutes that had the bride and grooms name printed on them with the date of the wedding ceremony, and we got to take these home as keepsakes of the celebration. After the toast it was time for the bride and groom to take their place on the dance floor for their first dance together as husband and wife. They looked so fantastic up there dancing together. When the bride and grooms dance was finished, everyone joined them for the next song. I know I went overboard on the dancing, my feet hurt all night long.
We all wished the bride and groom good luck as they left for their honeymoon. One of the other guests told me they were honeymooning in Hawaii. They’ll have a honeymoon to equal this fabulous wedding and reception. The rest of us partied until we couldn’t party no more.

All the lady guests received small jewelry boxes with sculpted flowers and little crystals to add to its beauty. The men were given little key chains with the well known frog prince as a charm. My girls night out party was fantastic too and I got a lot of gag gifts, but also quite a few nice bride gifts too. They gave me a shimmering white satin purse with a clasp made of crystal on it and a ribbon on top to boot. Inside the bag they had put little gifts like a manicure set, a girls night out tee shirt, a bride to be brooch and a few little necessities a girl likes to have with her. I loved this pillow they gave me which had the word ‘tonight’ embroidered on a side, and then you turned it over and it read ‘not tonight’. It was certainly the most unique throw pillow I’ve ever seen.
On the other hand, the bride and groom wedding gifts we got the reception were all more serious. We got about three toasters, four blenders and lots of waffle irons, but that is to be expected when you have so many people attending your wedding. We filled out a bridal registry and we received a food processor and china from that, along with some other things I had written down. My husband just adored the billards table and bar set that his parents gave us, and I know we will get a lot of use out of that. The plane tickets to get to the Greek Isles for our honeymoon came from my folks. We received a lot of wonderful gifts on our wedding day from our loving families and fantastic friends.
Having all our friends and family around us on this more than special day meant more to us than anything. We were able to spend our engagement party, wedding, and reception with them, and we are so glad about that. Being surrounded with great, supportive people like them is what makes life so much more enjoyable. It also helps to have friends that care enough to throw you a wild night with a bachelor party or a mind trippin girls night out bash. There is never a dull moment in our lives with the super great friends we have. We will send out thank you cards to all our friends and family, but that doesn’t really show just how much we adore them.

When I picked the theme for the baby shower, I couldn’t help but think of Ernie on Sesame Street and his favorite bathtub song of ‘Rubber Duckie You’re the One.’ It seemed like a longshot, but I checked to see if there were any duck baby shower available anyway, and I was pleasantly surprised. They are really so cute and it was a lot better than I thought it would be with all the online shopping help I got for ideas. You can can a ton of different duck favors online, not just for showers but for birthday parties for younger kids as well.
I was holding the shower in my rec room in the basement so I had plenty of room to set up indivdual tables to seat four guests at each. I got a yellow ducky cake with a couple of layers, the bottom one of which said baby girl in red frosting, and then I put that next to plates, drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and other deserts; on a table on the other side of the room, I put all of the baby shower presents. There were posters of Donald and Daisy Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and the rest of the Disney cast all over the place, and the Daisy Duck one was huge.
The place card holders I bought and put out at the shower were miniature pink picture frames that had a little ducky in each of the corners. There were duck favor candles at each table too and on the buffet table were paper plates, cups and napkins all with little baby ducks on them and even the punch bowl was unique. I went to a department store and purchased a little duck shaped baby bathtub and placed a glass punch bowl inside. It was really kind of cute. I also bought duck molds and filled them with yellow colored water for duck shaped ice cubes. I went all out on this duck themed shower.
Other than a few things that people at school suggested to me, I borrowed most of my ideas from things I saw online. I got a baby shower duck favor that was a candle holder, and some duck shower favors that were rubber ducky bookmarks. Everyone thought they were so cute and they made super party gifts for the games we played too.
I filled a square tub with water and, prior to any guests arriving, I put a bunch of duck bath toys in it. On the bottom of the ducks I wrote numbers and as the guests arrived they each had to pick a duck out of the little pond. We gave out a prize for the person who had the winning number, which I pulled out of a hat a bit later during the shower. We had a lot of fun with the guess the baby picture game, too. The guests were told in advance to take a baby picture of theirs to the shower with them, and then we put them all on a board and put the board in the front of the room. Everyone looked over the photos and tried to figure out which picture belonged to which person who was present at the shower. The winner was the person who guessed right on the most of them, and they were awarded a shower favor.
We had a lot of fun, great laughs and the mother to be got some really neat gifts for her little girl. I’m very happy with the amount of help I got from going on the Internet. I pulled off one heck of a baby shower, even though it seemed pretty far-fetched at first. The duck theme really was a cute idea.
