I’ve been researching sweet sixteen ideas…

My daughter is turning sixteen and I was looking for some unique ideas for her party. I was told by my friend that a good place for accessories was online where she got the supplies for her daughters party. So, I decided to check it out. It was surprising to find so many ideas for party supplies for the tables and little gifts. There were a lot of accessories I found that would be perfect for her party. I was able to make cookies in the shape of the number 16 as one of the snacks for her party with the cookie cutters I ordered.

I talked to my daughter and got her views on what type of party she wanted to have, and she decided on a roller skating and slumber birthday party. So I made the arrangements, and reserved tables with the roller rink in our neighborhood. I sent all of her girl friends special party invitations. It didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. They offered pizza, hot dogs and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. At home I had everything set up for the party to continue. I put up decorations, fixed a table with a few goodies to snack on, along with the sweet 16 cookies I prepared earlier.

The cookie cutters wasn’t the only thing I ordered online. Since I was getting by so cheap with this party, I ordered extra gifts from the selection of sweet sixteen favors for her and her friends. I ordered some adorable pink photo albums for all the girls, and disposable cameras for them to take pictures of the party. I gave them the cameras before we left for the roller rink, but they had no idea about the albums until later. Even though they took a lot of photos at the roller rink, they all saved some picture taking for the sleepover.

I also bought each of them little cosmetic bags with their initials on the front. Along with that I also bought compact mirrors and manicure sets that matched their bags. I bought festive little favor boxes and filled them with candies for each of the girls. We left the rink and went home to have her sweet sixteen party and watch her open her presents. There were plenty of snacks and drinks, girlie teen movies for them to watch, so they were good to go for the evening. They danced for a while, then they gave each other manicures with their new sets, and of course, they did the make up thing. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.

When the noise starting dwindling down they got out the bowls of popcorn and started watching their movies. I tried to stay out of their way as much as possible and just let them have a good time, but they asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with them. It made me feel good that they wanted to include me. They actually made it through the first two movies before they started nodded off, one by one. All that was left was my daughter and I, at least for a few minutes. With her eyes almost closed, she told me how much she loved her birthday party and thanked me.

When I got up in the morning the girls were already downstairs and had eaten, then straightened up everything from the party. I thought that was very thoughtful of them to do that for me. They hung around with my daughter for a couple of hours, then the kids started heading for home. As they were leaving, the girls thanked me for the wonderful time they had and all of the sweet sixteen party favors I bought for them. So, I guess that makes me a cool mom, hey?
